We are honored to announce that our beloved President & CEO, Sandy Pagnotti, has been recognized by the Daily Record as an Influential Marylander for 2021! Influential Marylanders are chosen because they have made significant impacts in their field and for their leadership, innovation, creativity and mentorship. Sandy will be honored at a special celebration on July 29th. We are incredibly proud to have Sandy be awarded for her leadership, compassion, and passion for the RMHC Maryland mission and the children we serve. Sandy has, and always will, put her all into helping our families, staff, volunteers, and supporters no matter what. She is someone who leads by her admirable example, and is someone who influences all of us to be our best and to spread love every single day. You can read more about the 2021 Influential Marylander honors on the Daily Record website.
Our community of love came together to commemorate RMH’s 10th Anniversary Red Shoe Shuffle. We shared 10 important reasons of why we honor this decade milestone. You embraced each and every one – as if it were the only one – helping us finish strong and raising over $420,000 – the most money ever in Shuffle history! Check out our team celebrating the big announcement moment above and, if you missed our Facebook Live broadcast or just want to see it again, you can still watch it.
And just as important, you supported our $10,000 Matches, participated in our 10-Day Challenge, and over 1,600 of you took to the pavement to Shuffle on Saturday within your own communities, many tuning in to Facebook Live for a special half hour of Love. You are absolutely amazing, we are humbled by your support, and couldn’t be more grateful. Take a look at our photo album for lots of pictures from the day (see if you can find yourself)!
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US SURPASS OUR GOAL
RAISED TO DATE: OVER $420,000
Finally, you let our families know they will always be taken care of in their toughest times and, this past year, you have proven that over and over. We are excited to share with you our progress towards acquiring a new Shuttle to transport our families around town in the next few months. Until then, we hope you will celebrate with us and know how much our RMH families and team THANK YOU for always being there!
Earlier this week we hosted a party with help of our friends at McDonald’s for one of our RMH superhero kids, 3-year-old Christopher, and celebrated the completion of his cancer treatments! The Toy Story themed surprise featured special guests like Buzz Lightyear, lots of toys, and, of course, a happy meal. Check out the coverage for more of Christopher’s story and be a part of the magic from the day:
WOW! Can you hear the joy and cheers coming from Aisquith Street? Thanks to all of you, at the end of our HomeburGala on Friday night, we had surpassed our goal of $500k and reached an incredible $588k. At the House, we call this a McMiracle!
Now comes the hard part. How can we possibly thank everyone who made this happen. We don’t know how to begin…
Thank You Gerry Sandusky for using your superpowers for good and always being here for us.
Thank You Sponsors for coming back, stepping up and never letting us down.
Thank You Donors for doing more in a year when you could have done less.
Thank You Women’s Committee for always bringing the mission to life, endlessly packing boxes and for sharing a sisterhood that inspires us.
Thank You Volunteer Delivery drivers for making sure every Party Box was delivered with love, care and a personal touch.
Thank You Party Box buyers for helping us sell out of more than 500 boxes in less than 3 weeks, and then tuning in online to show your support.
Thank You to our RMH families from around the world who sent in video messages for the program – we love you all!
On behalf of all of us at The House, we could not be more proud or more grateful. You have shown the children and families of RMH that despite challenging external forces, the power of love, compassion and community will always prevail – and we will always be here for them. Our safety net of care continues.
Sending so much love from all of us to all of you,
Sandy, Debbie & Team RMH
A few weeks ago, we were the lucky recipient of the first Roll with Ryder Wish List Drive drop-off – all in memory of sweet Ryder – which raised more than $27,000 for the current and future families staying at RMH. His parents Devi & Matt, along with their daughter Avery and extended family took a few moments to celebrate Ryder’s legacy of Hope and Love that will be felt by all of us for a very long time. When the Ryder truck pulled up to our House with boxes upon boxes of Target household items, it was like Christmas morning! We can’t thank everyone involved enough for their support in making this happen and look forward to our future partnership! Check out this interview from WMAR to relive some of the magic from this morning.
We are proud to announce that our new Ronald McDonald House project has been awarded the COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD for the Best Real Estate projects of 2019 by the Baltimore Business Journal. We couldn’t be prouder or more grateful for the love and support that got us here. A big shout out to our construction team: BHC Architects, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, Harbor East, Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc. & Kirk Designs Inc.
To celebrate and honor their son Ryder’s legacy, his parents Devi and Matt are raising funds for the Roll with Ryder Wish List drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland. During a routine 36-week sonogram, Devi and Matt received news no parent wants to hear: their son, Ryder, and their pregnancy were in jeopardy. That night, during the dark, rainy, and tearful journey to Johns Hopkins Hospital, a Ryder truck pulled directly in front of the family van and the headlights illuminated, “Ryder, Ever Better.” To most, the truck was simply a truck, but for Devi and Matt it was a beacon of hope. That truck led them all the way into Baltimore, strengthening their hearts and calming their fears.
Two long and stressful days later, Devi and Matt’s beautiful son was born after a 2.5 hour event led by 45 surgeons that can only be described as a miracle. Four weeks later, on May 11, 2019, Ryder Franklin Conley, was called back to heaven, leaving behind a legacy of hope and love.
On September 18, the same Ryder truck that gave hope at the beginning Devi and Matt’s journey, will deliver the donated items to our House. Read more about Ryder’s legacy and the inspiration behind the Roll with Ryder Wish List drive. You can also make a donation directly to the drive and help Devi and Matt fill the truck with much needed items to support our families.
Thursday night, the 26-foot-tall red heart on our rooftop turned blue in honor of frontline and essential workers as a special thank you for supporting – not only our families – but all of us throughout the COVID-19 crisis. And it will stay blue until we’re safely able to welcome everyone back through our doors here at RMH!
We know the COVID virus has turned everyone’s lives upside down. But for the families who stay at our House, their lives were already turned upside down. That’s why it’s more important than ever for us to continue to be there for them so they feel loved and nurtured and get the care they need.
Frontline and essential workers have been instrumental in making this possible so we hope you will join us in sending love and appreciation to everyone out there, especially those working through this crisis. We believe everything will turn right side up in time, but until then, our big blue heart will continue to shine.
Check out our big beautiful heart on the cover of the Baltimore Sun, in this gallery of photos with landmarks lit blue and this article with more details and an interview with RMHCMD President & CEO, Sandy Pagnotti.
